FAQs

Q: How do I get hot melt off of fabric?
A: If the adhesive is not down into the fabric fibers, it can be removed by putting the fabric in the freezer then picking the adhesive off. If it is into the fabric, there are citrus cleaners available designed to remove hot melts. Be sure to test the cleaner in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it does not hurt the fabric.

Q: How would I know which temperature hot melt glue to use?
A: Low temperature hot melts are good on sensitive materials that may melt or distort from too much heat, ie, ribbon, thin foil or Styrofoam. High temp hot melts can be used on materials that require good grab and strong bonds, ie, woodworking, and repairs.

Q: How do I know which glue is right for my project?
A: All this information can be found at our application guide.

Q: Can I use hot melts on an outside project?
A: If the glue is subjected to all kinds of weather and temperature conditions, the bond will weaken from these stresses.

Q: If I like the glue I'm working with but need more time to work with it, is there something I can do to extend this time?
A: If you are working with a multi-temp glue gun, use the high temp setting, this will give you more working time. If you are working with low temp or high temp gun, you can increase the working time by laying down a thicker bead of glue. This will keep the glue molten longer, thus giving you more working time.

Q: Is hot melt affected by water?
A: Hot melt will soften if exposed to salt water. It is not affected by fresh water.

Q: What happens if a hot melt is injested, either by human or animal.
A: Our hot melts are non-toxic. If injested, seek immediate medical attention. MSDS's for our hot melts are available here on the web site.

Q: Can I paint or stain over hot melts?
A: You cannot stain over hot melts. You can however paint over hot melts if you use acrylic paints.
